Today is World Backup Day

- perhaps more necessary than before?

Last year, we thought ransomware attacks had peaked. But on balance, 2018 has started just as badly. Last week, the US city of Atlanta was attacked by ransomware and demanded to pay a ransom equivalent to 56,000 crowns to unlock one computer and 420,000 crowns to unlock them all. But backups don't just protect against ransomware, they also protect against theft, data breaches or just plain user error.

Considering that data loss was estimated a few years ago to cost 1.7 trillion annually and that many businesses don't recover from a big hit but actually go under, backup is very important and probably deserves a day of its own. This year, World Backup Day falls on Easter Eve and many people probably have other things on their minds than the well-being of their computers. But put some thought into backup today. At least your own, and make sure it works. Because you do have a backup, don't you? If not, please visit www.storegate.se and get a secure backup in a Swedish cloud. If you don't have time today, you are welcome to visit us any day, for us every day is World Backup Day.

Happy Easter!
