{"id":72452,"date":"2017-11-13T09:01:57","date_gmt":"2017-11-13T08:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.storegate.com\/staging-site\/uncategorized\/sometimes-a-swedish-cloud-is-needed\/"},"modified":"2025-02-12T10:58:23","modified_gmt":"2025-02-12T09:58:23","slug":"sometimes-a-swedish-cloud-is-needed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.storegate.com\/en\/whats-new\/sometimes-a-swedish-cloud-is-needed\/","title":{"rendered":"Sometimes a Swedish cloud is needed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><strong>As the market for cloud computing services explodes, many businesses are becoming increasingly concerned about where their information actually is and what laws <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\"><strong><br\/>But there is a simple solution &#8211; securing business-critical information in a Swedish cloud.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">In the aftermath of several revelations about how authorities and companies handle the storage of sensitive data outside Sweden&#8217;s borders, more and more companies are starting to question where their own information is actually stored.<br\/><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">What&#8217;s more, in 2018, the EU&#8217;s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force &#8211; requiring personal data to be stored within the EU.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">Regardless of the industry and the IT environment used, most companies have files that should be stored in Sweden, under Swedish law. For several reasons: <\/span><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">By using Swedish Storegate, companies can be sure that their stored files will not be disclosed to foreign authorities or used without authorization<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">By using a Swedish cloud service with servers in Sweden, Swedish companies can be sure that personal data will not be transferred to a country outside the EU, for which there are otherwise specific requirements.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">By using a Swedish cloud service with servers in Sweden, companies meet the requirements of the Accounting Act that all accounting information must be stored in Sweden.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">By using a Swedish cloud service, Swedish companies avoid being exposed to foreign laws.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.storegate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/detfinnsofta_citat.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43885\"><\/figure>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">Obviously<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">  not all IT management should or must take place in Swedish cloud services, it is completely unrealistic in the digitally global world we live in.<br\/>However, there is often specific information in files that should not actually be stored in servers outside Sweden&#8217;s borders. And then services are needed that companies can always use as a complement to storage you get in e.g. Office 365.
